Heather E. Coleman, trauma-informed coach in Metro Detroit

Welcome! I’m Heather, and I’m so glad you’re here.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CENTERED YOURSELF?

There's a particular kind of exhaustion that comes with always being on, mentally tracking everything for everybody - except yourself.

Beneath the burnout is a quiet, valid anger that your own needs have somehow become the very last priority.

(And don’t even get me started on perimenopause!)

You are the expert on your own life, and our work together is built with that in mind.

For our sessions - come as you are. Sweats, coffee, the cat in your lap, a messy bun - this is meaningful work, and you should be comfortable! The space we share reflects where you actually are, so you can grab a snack, relax, and unmask.

Your future self is rooting for you.

Let’s start your second act.

Trauma Recovery, Healing & Growth

  • Narcissistic abuse follows patterns - in intimate relationships, in families, in friendships, in workplaces - and once you can see them, everything starts to make sense. The love bombing, the devaluation, the gaslighting, the discard, the hoovering. The way you were made to question your own perception of reality, even when your gut was telling you something was deeply wrong.

Part of what makes this so difficult to describe is how it sounds when you try. The things these abusers do are so insidious, so calculated, that saying it out loud can feel impossible - because it sounds unbelievable, even to you. That's by design.

As a trauma-informed, certified coach specializing in Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) abuse and Antagonistic Relational Stress (ARS), I recognize these nuanced dynamics. You don't have to convince me of what happened or work to explain yourself. I understand what narcissistic abuse actually does - the physical symptoms, the CPTSD, the anxiety and depression that are situational responses to living under abuse, the numbing that makes complete sense when there is no room to breathe.

This is a space where you get to say everything out loud, without worrying about how it sounds. I already believe you.

We explore the trauma bonds, the cycle, and the specific patterns in your situation. We work through boundaries, grey rock and yellow rock communication, exit strategies, and whether low contact or no contact is right for you. And we build from there - centering you, and moving toward the future you actually want.

  • We all have inner children at various ages inside of us who are in need of acknowledgment, love, and understanding. Going through the healing process with your “littles” directly affects current you, and in very meaningful ways, future you.

Together, we look at all of it - the conditioning, the systems, the adaptations you developed because they were necessary. We explore the real roots of impostor syndrome, which research consistently locates in systemic oppression and disenfranchising structures far more than in the women experiencing it.

We explore the Five Whys of Fear, so we can get to the root cause and address what’s holding us back. We name what happened, make sense of it, and start to separate the situation from the ongoing anxiety.

My favorite part of doing this work is this: in healing the younger versions of yourself, we start to heal you now, in the present. And in doing so, we change the future. This is why I say “your future self is rooting for you.” Future you already knows that you can do this, because the work you are doing now is creating your beautiful life ahead.

  • Your body has been telling you something is wrong - the Sunday dread, the insomnia, the headaches, the hair loss, the knot in your stomach on the way to work. A toxic workplace produces the same physical and psychological symptoms as any other abusive environment, because that's exactly what it is.

Research consistently shows that top performers are disproportionately targeted in toxic workplaces. You're being singled out because you're exceptional - and because excellence threatens the status quo.

We name the dynamics - the gaslighting, the culture of silence, the impossible standards, the retaliation for speaking up. We build strategies for surviving it, exiting it, and recovering from it. Then we rebuild your confidence, your boundaries, your professional identity, and your sense of what you actually deserve in a career.

Life Transitions

  • Nobody prepared us for this. The brain fog, the insomnia, the anxiety, the joint pain, the weight gain, the hair changes, the loss of words mid-sentence - sometimes the rage that comes out of nowhere. And when we finally bring it to a doctor, too many of us are handed an antidepressant and told it's stress.

It's not stress. It's a massive hormonal shift that affects every system in your body - and most of the medical world is just now starting to catch up.

As a Certified Professional Menopause Coach who has been through perimenopause and menopause myself, I've investigated the connections between perimenopause, autoimmune conditions like hEDs, MCAS, POTS, long COVID, and many others. Current research is confirming what many of us already suspected - that these conditions are often interlinked.

The recent increased knowledge of what's actually helpful to us, from hormone therapy (including GLP-1 /GIP) medications to proper exercise for women, is growing rapidly.

We work on understanding what's happening in your body, connecting you with resources and practitioners who take this seriously, and supporting you in advocating for yourself in a medical system that is still catching up to what the research already shows.

We also talk about what this transition does to your identity, your career, your relationships, and your sense of self. For many women, perimenopause and menopause bring a clarity that changes everything - a sudden, bone-deep awareness of what's been costing you energy, time, and peace. The relationships that drain you, the roles that no longer fit, the patterns you've been tolerating for years - they all become impossible to ignore.

That's not a symptom. That's wisdom. And on the other side of it - for women who get the right support and accurate information - is better physical health, sharper clarity, and a genuine excitement about what comes next.

  • Women are identified as neurodivergent in adulthood at staggering rates - often after decades of misdiagnosis, mislabeling, and mental health treatment that addressed the symptoms while leaving the source untouched. Up to 97% of autistic women over 40 remain entirely unidentified. Women with ADHD are diagnosed an average of five years later than men, despite symptoms appearing at the same age.

What looked like anxiety, depression, or burnout was frequently ADHD, autism, HSP, or a combination - sometimes surfacing with new intensity during perimenopause, when shifting hormones remove the buffers that made masking possible.

Getting the diagnosis or the language is a beginning, not a resolution. What follows is its own process - grief for the life that could have looked different with earlier support, a reinterpretation of your own history, and the work of building a life structured around how your brain actually works rather than the neurotypical frameworks you've been forcing yourself into.

As someone with lived experience and an informed understanding of ADHD, autism, HSP, masking, and the connections between neurodivergence and complex trauma, I offer a space for open conversation, accurate information, and practical support through all of it - the diagnosis, the grief, the reorientation into a life that is finally, authentically yours.

  • Sometimes it's a single event - a divorce, an empty nest, a career that suddenly feels like it belongs to someone else. Sometimes it's slower - a quiet accumulation of moments where you realize you've been living inside a life that no longer fits. Either way, you're standing in the middle of a massive shift and the question is the same: who am I now?

This is the work of figuring that out. We explore the relationships, the roles, the versions of yourself you've been performing - and we start uncovering what's actually yours. What you want. What you value. What kind of life you're ready to build from here.

Whether you're navigating a divorce, rebuilding after one, adjusting to an empty nest, sitting with a career crossroads, or realizing that the life you built around everyone else's needs has very little of you in it - this is where you center yourself and decide what comes next.

Leadership & Small Business

  • At this level, the work is less about proving yourself and more about positioning, influence, and legacy. You've already demonstrated what you're capable of. This is about making sure your impact, visibility, and compensation reflect it.

We work on executive presence, board readiness, thought leadership, strategic networking, managing organizational politics at the highest levels, and building the internal and external positioning that opens the right doors.

We understand exactly how power moves at this level - the organizational dynamics, the political navigation, the compounded complexity for women and women of color moving into the C-suite. We navigate it accordingly.

You deserve the title, the role, and the compensation that reflect what you've actually been delivering. Let's go get them.

  • You've gained the experience, you're a high performer, you've taken on more responsibility - and you're ready to make your next move.

Whether that means building your case for promotion, updating your positioning, or launching a targeted job search - we build the strategy around where you actually want to go.

We start with your resume, working through your accomplishments in detail - because most high performers have done significantly more than their current materials reflect. From there we build what the situation requires: a business case and salary research to present to leadership, a job description that makes the promotion case on paper, or a behind-the-scenes LinkedIn refresh designed to catch recruiter attention without signaling anything to your current employer.

The resume and strategy work is also identity work. As your accomplishments get laid out accurately, your sense of your own value recalibrates - and that clarity directly influences the roles you pursue and the confidence you bring into the room.

  • You have an idea that keeps coming back - a service you know you could offer, expertise you've been giving away for free, or a business concept you've been quietly researching for longer than you've told anyone.

Whether you're building on the side, planning a full transition, or somewhere in between - this is where the idea becomes something real.

I've built my own service-based business from the ground up and have helped many women do the same. We work through everything that turns an idea into an actual operating business - clarifying your services, identifying your audience, positioning your brand, building a business plan, and getting your first clients in the door. That includes the pieces most people don't know to think about until they're stuck: business entity formation, domain and website setup, brand colors, logo direction, and the foundational decisions that save significant time and money when made correctly from the start.

We also work through pricing strategy - because what you charge directly shapes the clients you attract, the income you sustain, and how the market positions you from the start.

You have something valuable to offer. Let's build it.

Career Advancement & Strategic Job Search

  • Your resume and cover letter need to tell the truth about who you are at your best - in language recruiters, ATS systems, and hiring managers can all read clearly. We do this together in real time, via Zoom, where we start with an honest assessment of where you are and where you want to land, then build a master resume that captures the full range of your experience and leadership. If you're considering more than one direction, we tailor versions for each job family so every opportunity you pursue is met with the right positioning.

A core part of this work is surfacing the quantifiers - the numbers, scope, and outcomes that make your accomplishments concrete. You already have them; I help you find and articulate them. The process tends to rebuild your confidence along the way, and because every line comes from your real experience in your own words, you can walk into any interview and speak to the page authentically.

We will write a main cover letter that is built to be revised for each opportunity, tailored to the role, the organization, and your voice. (Don’t worry, it’s a simple system I’ll teach you!) While many companies don’t focus on cover letters, enough do that we want to be prepared.

Finally, we use the work we've done together to level up your LinkedIn so your online presence matches your materials. I'll also teach you how to use AI the way I do - not to generate your story, but to organize what's already yours, compare your resume against job descriptions of interest with precision, and refine your materials thoughtfully.

Bonus: This use of AI and prompt engineering to streamline workflow is a skill you'll carry with you long after our work together ends.

  • I take a different approach to interview preparation. We treat interviews as conversations between professionals exploring mutual fit, and the work we do together is designed to help you walk in prepared for that kind of conversation. On Zoom, we identify the experiences that best showcase who you are and shape them into stories you can speak to with confidence. Then we practice together casually - I reflect back what's landing, what could be developed further, and what you can set aside.

The stories you build with me are flexible by design. A small, well-developed set can be adapted to answer a wide range of behavioral questions, which means you'll walk into interviews feeling prepared rather than scrambling to recall the right example in the moment. We draw directly from the work we've already done together on your resume, so there's continuity between the page and the conversation.

Beyond the stories, we cover the full arc of the interview: how to introduce yourself with warmth and clarity, how to talk about salary with steadiness, how to ask questions that signal you're evaluating fit too, and how to follow up afterward. We also address the individual patterns that show up for you - whether that's a tendency to overshare, talk too much, talk too little, or lose your footing under pressure - with practical tools you can use in the moment to stay focused and grounded. By the time we're done, the interview feels like a conversation you're ready for.

  • Your LinkedIn profile is often the first place a recruiter, hiring manager, or potential connection lands - which means it needs to reflect the same care and intentionality as the rest of your materials. We work on it together on Zoom, drawing directly from the resume work we've already done so your profile reads as a coherent extension of who you are.

We start with the elements people actually see first: your headline, your photo, your banner, and your About section. Your headline is some of the most valuable real estate on the platform, and we craft it to communicate your expertise and the direction you're moving in. Your About section becomes a place to tell your professional story in your own voice, with the warmth and depth that a resume bullet can't carry on its own.

From there, we work through your experience section, your skills, and your featured content. I'll also walk you through the backend tools and settings that most users don't know exist - the recruiter-facing signals, the search and filtering features, the saved searches and alerts, the ways to surface yourself to the right people, and the small adjustments that meaningfully change how often the right opportunities find you. We talk about how to use LinkedIn going forward too: what to post, how often to engage, who to connect with, and how to keep your profile current as your work evolves. The goal is a profile and a working knowledge of the platform that support your search

  • Strategic job search work is about expanding your reach into the full landscape of how next-level roles actually move - well beyond the major job boards most people start with. There's a much wider market available to you, and we explore it together.

We work through the job boards and platforms specific to your industry and level, the legitimate recruiting firms working in your space, and how to position yourself to be found by recruiters before you're even actively searching. We also use AI together to build customized intelligence for your specific search - researching companies and cultures so you can evaluate fit before an interview, drafting outreach you can adapt to your voice, and pulling salary benchmarks that ground your negotiation in real market data.

By the time we're done, you have a working knowledge of where the best opportunities live and how to engage with the search market in a way that makes the right roles findable - and makes you findable to the right people.
